Harrow swimmers star in Bournemouth

A MAGNIFICENT seven of Harrow and Wealdstone swimmers lit up the recent Bournemouth Christmas Gala by bagging a remarkable 25 medals.

Rory McMonagle let the way with gold in the 200m, 100m and 50m backstroke and 200m freestyle, plus two silvers in the 100m and 50m free.

Misha Newman claimed gold in the 100m and 200m fly and 200m free, silver in the 200m free and bronze in the 50m back; Roxy Bevan earned golds in the 50m free and 200m fly and 200m free silver; Ted Elson secured gold in the 100m fly, 50m back and 400m IM, silver in the 200m IM, 100m back, 100m free and 50m breaststroke; Sean Panacides came third in the 100m free and 200m fly.

Elson also finished second in the skins final while Polly White and Panacides just missed out on qualification for it in the 13-year-old age group.

Daisy Davis impressed in all four of her events, gaining personal bests.
