Northwood 0 Wealdstone 3
WEALDSTONE ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Northwood at Chestnut Avenue in a pre-season warmup on Tuesday night.
All three goals came in the first half as the visitors romped to an early lead.
Peter Dean got the first goal for the Ryman Premier League side after just seven minutes, connecting with a cross from Scott McCubbin.
Northwood went close to an equaliser five minutes later with a half-chance, but were helpless to stop the Stones going two up on 21 minutes.
A long-range shot from nearly 30 yards could only be parried by the Northwood goalkeeper James Reading straight into the path of Scott Fitzgerald, who coolly slotted the ball home.
And just two minutes later Fitzgerald had a second against his former club, having got on the end of a cross from the left from Tom Pett after Pett saw his initial effort saved.
Content to sit back on a 3-0 half-time lead, the visitors appeared to be less adventurous going forward in the second half as the rain started to fall and the pitch started to collect standing water.
The Stones also had the woodwork to thank after the hosts hit the post twice as they searched for a way back into the match.
In the end, the match ended in a good win for Gordon Bartlett's side as they continue their preparations for the season ahead.
