Wealdstone chairman calls for calm ahead of derby

WEALDSTONE chairman Howard Krais has urged fans to channel their passions in the correct manner during Monday’s local derby with Harrow Borough at Grosvenor Vale.

The appeal for calm comes just weeks after comments made by Borough boss David Howell in an online blog left many Stones fans up in arms. And while the derby is sometimes a tempestuous affair, Krais wants fans to generate the sort of atmosphere that will lure prospective fans back on a regular basis.

"There will be lots of families in attendance and local people coming down for the first time and we want them to enjoy the day," said Krais.

"Our relationship with Harrow Borough has been good for many years at boardroom and managerial level and long may that continue.

"Local rivalries are very good for us and for the game. The crowds are big and people are passionate but it is important that the passion of the fans is directed towards their own team, rather than whatever has been said or written recently.

"The enthusiasm and passion must be channelled correctly and we need everyone doing their bit for the team by creating the right atmosphere."
