LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DAY FOUR
Middlesex 98 & 239-2
Match abandoned as a draw
Middlesex 6pts Nottinghamshire 9pts
MIDDLESEX’S County Championship clash with leaders Nottinghamshire was abandoned as a draw on the final day at Uxbridge.
The previous evening’s heavy rain at Gatting Way coupled with a heavy early morning downpour saw no play was possible on day four, meaning the hosts escaped with a draw, more than they could have hoped for after being bowled out on the first day for just 98.
The six points gained lift Middlesex to third place above Somerset.
Initially umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Martin Bodenham had decided there would be no play in the morning session and they would look again after an early lunch at 12;30pm.
However, the weather dictated otherwise and Angus Fraser’s side can only hope conditions will improve sufficiently to allow their crucial CB40 to clash with Leicestershire (1:45pm start) to go ahead tomorrow.
