Hendon 1 Whitehawk 1
GARY McCann’s resurgent Hendon head into this weekend’s clash with Bognor Regis Town full of confidence after frustrating runaway Ryman Premier leaders Whitehawk on Tuesday night.
Andy Pearson gave the table-toppers an early lead but Dean Cracknell equalised with an exquisite 25-yard chip just five minutes later to make it five wins and a draw from the Greens’ last seven league games.
Hendon are up to 14th in the table and will fancy their chances at Vale Farm on Saturday against a Bognor side that are flirting with the play-off spots under the management of Jamie Howell.
The Rocks welcomed Hendon to Nyewood Lane at the start of December and were a little fortunate to come away 3–1 winners, Cracknell again on the scoresheet for the Greens as he netted a stoppage-time consolation goal.
Bognor’s hopes of a second consecutive promotion took a hit last weekend when they went down 1–0 at home to Kingstonian, a result which saw them slip to sixth in the table, with the three teams below them all boasting games in hand.
Tuesday night sees Hendon make the short trip to the Abrahams Stadium for a London Senior Cup quarter-final tie against Gary Meakin’s Wingate & Finchley.
It will be another tricky tie for McCann’s side against a team that won the competition in 2011, although Hendon took the trophy home last year.
