WEMBLEY’S Vale Farm Sports Centre has been chosen to host international six-a-side football.
The venue, located on Watford Road, will welcome England’s six-a-side football team for their first home friendly fixture against Bulgaria on February 5.
Both teams will be looking for victory in the Stiliyan Petrov cup in honour of the Aston Villa midfielder who has seen his playing career affected by leukaemia.
England’s six-a-side squad was formed last year and competed in the inaugural miniEURO event, which was won by Romania, in Chisinau, Moldova.
The England team is selected at national trials and also at the United Kingdom Minifootball Association’s (UKMA) national tournament. For more information go online
In yesterday’s (January 24) edition of the Observer, due to a misunderstanding with the game’s organisers, we reported that Wembley FC’s Vale Farm ground had been chosen to host this charity football match.
However, the game will actually take place at the nearby Vale Farm Sports Centre on February 5 - a separate entity to the football club. We apologise for any problems caused to Wembley FC and their tenants Hendon FC.
