WEALDSTONE boss Gordon Bartlett has released former QPR forward Shabazz Baidoo following the arrival of new-signing Chris Moore.
The 25-year-old arrived at Grosvenor Vale in late August after a spell away from football.
Richard Jolly and Peter Dean have restricted Baidoo’s appearances for the first-team and he fell further down the pecking order when Moore rolled up last week.
Baidoo was not included in the squad for last weekend’s defeat at Lowestoft and Bartlett confirmed to the Observer that the striker is seeking pastures new.
“We’ve released Shabazz,” Bartlett explained. “The thing is that we’ve got to look at it now and think our reserves have not got a game until the middle of January, so there’s not going to be much game-time there, and I’ve also got to balance the books.
“I was always hopeful for him because he’s got a good pedigree, but for me his style of play was quite similar to Peter [Dean] in that he drops off to receive the ball – we wanted something different.
“He did very well and I wish him all the best. He goes on good terms.”
Wealdstone’s midweek trip to Canvey was postponed due to a frozen pitch but they will look to return to winning ways when they entertain Enfield Town this Saturday.
“I’ve got a lot of time for their manager Steve Newing,” Bartlett added. “They are a side that’s just come up but they ran Lowestoft close the other week and beat Hendon by more goals than we did.”
