House prices show a further rise
House prices rose for the third month in a row during September, increasing by a further 1.6%.
The average UK property now costs £163,533, 5.9% or £9,000 more than when prices hit their trough in April this year, according to Halifax.
The group said a combination of increased demand and a shortage of properties on the market had pushed prices up in recent months.
