BODY popping, breakdancing and Bollywood sat side by side at a showcase of the borough's best young dancers.
Saturday's 100% Dance event - the in-house brand of shows organised, programmed and performed by 14- to 25-year-olds at Harrow Arts Centre in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End - saw a variety of acts take to the stage include Kidology, Bearfoot School of Performing Arts, Honey’s Dance Academy, Breakout Dance,
ImPulse Youth Dance, Xtreme, Pinner Theatre Dance, Beverley School of Performing Arts. and soloists Sarah Benbelaid, Preena Raja, Adekemi Adenaya and Habib Ouro.
Nicky Farmer who runs Kidology, and co-hosted the event with Habib Ouro, said: “100% Dance was an amazing night and a great opportunity for young people to get involved.
"Local groups who attended this evening gave a variety of dance styles and inspiration to many other groups.
"I think 100% Dance goes from strength to strength each year and hope it continues as it was such a great night for both dancers and audience members.”
Shivangi Patel, one of the show's producers, said: “Being there for the first time, it felt as if it wouldn't be the last! Experiencing the atmosphere was great and I look forward to spending more time with the 100% crew."
The night was wrapped up with an impromptu freestyle dance slot and a 100% Dance version of Harlem Shake - the internet viral video trend where one costumed person dances in a room to a track called 'Harlem Shake' and everyone else sits or stands around non-plussed and when the bass kicks in the clip jumps to a scene of everyone dancing or gyrating or repeating a silly action frenetically to the music.
