A MAN suffered minor cuts and bruises in a short fall from the roof of St George's Shopping Centre in Harrow town centre.
Security staff were alerted to the man's rooftop presence at 9.13am and by 10.10am he had somehow toppled over the side of the mall in St Ann's Road, landing on the roof of the building's plant room.
A Harrow Police spokesman confirmed the man, believed to be in his 40s, "fell a short distance" and was retrieved by police and paramedics and treated by the ambulance crew for minor cuts and bruises before being taken to Northwick Park Hospital at just before 10.30am.
During this time, the mall was not evacuated and businesses are trading as normal although surrounded roads were closed off as a precaution and the Metropolitan Police helicopter hovered overhead.
A St George's Shopping Centre management statement said: "We can confirm that at 09:15 this morning, members of the St George’s' security team were
called to assist an individual in the St George’s Shopping Centre car park.
"The car park was closed to the public whilst staff communicated with the male and the emergency services were quickly on the scene.
"The individual did sustain an injury but as this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.
"As ever, the management and staff of St George’s work to ensure the safety, security and comfort of all of our visitors at all times."
