VOTERS in West Harrow will go to the polls on February 21 to elect a new councillor.
The vacancy was sparked by the resignation on January 10 of Labour’s Brian Gate – the former portfolio holder for children, schools and families – following his police caution three days earlier for possession of indecent images of children.
Anyone wishing to contest the by-election has to file their nomination papers by noon tomorrow (Friday).
Labour, the Conservatives and UKIP have confirmed to the Observer they will all be fielding a candidate in the poll to take place on Thursday, February 21, between 7am and 10pm, at local polling stations in the ward.
West Harrow ward’s other two councillors are Councillor Kairul Kareema Marikar and Councillor William Stoodley, who are both Labour.
