AN ELDERLY couple in Pinner are warning others to be vigilant after they fell victim to an unscrupulous tradesman.
The couple, who live in Central Avenue, Pinner, received a visit by the man, aged in his 20s, in December who offered to do some work in their garden for £85.
After agreeing he would take all of the branches and detritus away, he instead dumped it on their neighbours garden, causing the couple much anguish.
The woman, in her 70s, and her husband, who is unwell and in his 80s, now have to pay for someone to clear it all up.
The woman, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said: “I just can’t get over it and I don’t want it happening to anyone else. Our neighbour noticed that the branches had been dumped on his garden and damaged a pipe. He has been very nice about it but we have moved all the mess from his garden to ours. We couldn’t afford the £85 in the first place but we will have to pay someone to clear it all up.”
The woman said the tradesman was driving a white van which had branches in the boot.
Police are aware of the incident.
