A NURSERY teacher who helps pre-school children with behavioural problems has been recognised in the New Year Honours list.
Helen Rees was a teacher at Gange Nursery School, Canning Road, Harrow, for eight years and is now a teacher at First Steps Nursery at The Willows Academy special school, Hayes.
The 53-year-old, of Pinner Road, Pinner, was made MBE for services to education and expressed her delight at receiving the honour, but modestly dedicated the accolade to her colleagues.
“It is a wonderful honour, and I still can’t really believe it,” Mrs Rees said. “My family were ecstatic, and it is lovely for the school. I accept it on behalf of everybody I work with, because it really is a team effort.”
During a teaching career which spans 30 years, Mrs Rees has worked in her native Wales and in the London boroughs of Newham and Ealing.
