Solicitor selected by Tories for Harrow West battle

A SOLICITOR and restaurateur has been selected to contest the Harrow West constituency for the Conservatives at the 2015 General Election.

Hannah David was unveiled as the Tory rival to incumbent Labour MP Gareth Thomas at the International Siddhashram Shakti Centre in Palmerston Road, Wealdstone, on Wednesday December 19.

She was in the company of Conservative Party chairman Grant Shapps, who said the seat was one of the 40 prime targets for their party in three years' time.Mrs David, a married mother-of-three and member of Borehamwood Synagogue, is a councillor for Borehamwood Hillside ward on Harrow's neighbouring authority of Hertsmere in Hertfordshire, where she is chairwoman of the planning committee.

She is a director and co-owner of Let's Meat eatery in Borehamwood, which bills itself as "Hertfordshire's only kosher meaty restaurant".

Mr Thomas holds a majority of 3,143 but proposals recommended by the Boundary Commission would alter Harrow West constituency to gain Hatch End ward and Brent's Northwick Park ward and lose Marlborough ward.Consultation on England's boundary changes ended on December 10 and the Government will decide whether to proceed with the alterations next year.

See the Observer next week for a full interview with Mrs David.
