FIVE people were arrested in Brent for driving illegally.
Final figures for the Met Police’s latest operation to crack down on drivers illegally using London’s roads during the festive season have been released by police.
In total, 17 vehicles were seized and five people arrested in Brent borough. Forty officers from a range of units set up fixed stop points at multiple locations across Brent, including Cricklewood Broadway, Church Road, Blackbird Hill, and Watford Road, Sunbury.
Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Matthew Gardner, said: “Yet again Operation Cubo has achieved some outstanding results.
“We know that 80 per cent of uninsured drivers are habitual criminals and they are five times more likely to be involved in collisions. These operations are about disrupting the offenders that use their vehicles to commit crime in Brent borough and beyond, and transport weapons, drugs and stolen property.
“We will continue to pursue them relentlessly into 2013, with the additional support of a dedicated new investigation team and enhanced technology.”
The 14th Operation Cubo exercise took place on Tuesday, December 18. The total number of vehicles seized across London was 552, while 105 people were arrested for a variety of offences.
