THE NEW leader of Harrow Council cooked up culinary delights when he took over the canteen kitchen for a day.
Councillor Thaya Idaikkadar, who was elected leader in October, treated staff to an authentic Sri Lankan menu on Wednesday last week.
The keen cook used his family recipes and prepared the dishes himself, with the help of canteen staff, and the four-course menu proved popular.
Mr Idaikkadar, who is the first Sri Lankan council leader in Harrow, said: “I love cooking so it was a pleasure to share my passion with everyone at the council. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and there were lots of requests for more. I hope to be able to do it again soon.”
The menu included lamb soup, chicken curry and spinach and aubergine curry, both served with dhal and basmati rice, semolina, pineapple and raisin pudding.
