A CENTRE for young people in Brent opened at Planet Zero on Saturday.
Tokyngton Youth Club is the result of joint efforts by Tokyngton Safer Neighbourhoods team, Brent Council ward working team, youngsters in Tokyngton and businesses.
They have all been looking for ways of engage with youngsters of Tokyngton following the disorder that took place in August last year. A Tokyngton Youth Panel was formed to forge links between young people and the authorities and to help create a sense of belonging.
Planet Zero is in the Wembley retail park and PCSO Samuel Lamptey, from Tokyngton SN Team, said: “The launch of the Tokyngton Youth Club proves that the local Safer Neighbourhoods team is able to collaborate well with Brent Council, ward councillors, residents and businesses to achieve great goals such as this.”
More than 200 people attended the opening when VIP guests included Olympic gold medalist boxer James DeGale and judo athlete Lee Shinkin, a 2012 Commonwealth Bronze medallist.
