A TUBE passenger has been jailed for repeatedly exposing himself to lone women and touching himself in front of them.
Regular London Underground traveller Jacek Drzal, 32, of High Road, Willesden, was convicted of outraging public decency on the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines between December 2011 and July this year.
He was sentenced on Tuesday last week at Blackfriars Crown Court to 18 months in prison.
Detective Constable Martin Chapman of the British Transport Police said after the hearing: “It was an offence on Thursday, July 26, that led to Drzal’s arrest, when at around 5.40pm, he boarded a northbound Jubilee line train at Kilburn.
“He sat opposite his victim, a 27-year-old woman, who had fallen asleep. When she awoke, she saw him with his trousers pulled down, touching himself in front of her.
“The victim left the train at Stanmore and reported the incident immediately.”
Police officers and Tube staff later showed the victim security camera footage from the train and she was able to identify Drzal as the suspect.
Quick-thinking London Underground workers called police when they spotted the 32-year-old boarding a Jubilee line train at Stanmore, and he was quickly arrested.
DC Chapman said: “Checks on Drzal’s Oyster card showed that he would travel the network for hours at a time before exiting at a station – a clear sign that he was up to no good.
“In addition, good quality closed-circuit television placed Drzal at the scenes of similar crimes committed by him that were reported to us by other women.
“Though he made no move towards his victims, or threatened them in any way, Drzal’s offensive and brazen behaviour, quite understandably caused them considerable distress. I would also like to pay tribute to the victims for coming forward and providing us with detailed statements and descriptions of Drzal, despite being subject to this frightening experience.”
Drzal admitted eight counts of outraging public decency at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 28.
At his sentencing last week, he was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
