SPORTING greats have been given the ‘Wally’ treatment and get their place in cartoon history.
The famous Where’s Wally series of books is marking its 25th anniversary at Wembley Stadium and the illustrator has created a scene with figures from football.
Fans who visit the stadium as part of the tour will have the chance to search for the bobble hat-wearing traveller in the illustration, which features England captain Steven Gerrard, full-back Glen Johnson, goalkeeper Joe Hart, England women’s defender Faye White and Team GB women’s strikers Kelly Smith and Eniola Aluko among others.
The FA’s Sir Trevor Brooking is also a character in the exhibition, by author and illustrator Martin Handford, which will be open until Sunday.
Roger Maslin, managing director of Wembley Stadium, said: “Wally is such an icon and we are thrilled to have him join the crowds at Wembley to celebrate his 25th anniversary.
“He should feel at home surrounded by all the other legends that have played here.”
