A MOTORIST who ‘swerved all over the place’ and smashed into other vehicles after her airbag went off, blocking her view, has been fined.
Sapna Mandalia, of Belmont Lane, Harrow, changed her plea to guilty of driving without due care and attention on the morning of her trial at Willesden Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday last week.
The court was told Mandalia was driving a W-reg Mercedes on January 4 in Kenton Lane when she was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
This caused the airbag in the steering wheel to deploy into her face, leaving her vision obscured.
“You continued to drive, unable to see properly and fully control the vehicle, as you were swerving all over the road and collided with other vehicles,” the indictment said.
The 37-year-old was fined £100, including a £15 victim surcharge, ordered to pay court costs of £100 and saw her licence endorsed with three penalty points.
A second charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident was dismissed by the court when the prosecution offered no evidence.
