A NEW social housing development was officially opened by the Mayor of Harrow.

The housing site in Boxtree Lane, Harrow Weald, was developed by Origin Housing and offers 14 homes for rent including four family homes and 10 flats.

The development, which was designed by Harrow architects, Yoop, is located on the site of the former derelict Boxtree Pub.

The mayor, Nizam Ismail, unveiled a bench at the location on Tuesday, October 9.

He said: “During my time as mayor so far, I have had more than 220 engagements, but this is the first time I have opened a housing development, which demonstrates the shortage of housing in the borough. I am very pleased to see that Origin have created these much needed new homes for social rent.”

Guests included councillors and tenants of the development.
