A MOTORIST around 40 years old was taken to hospital after a car hit a tree this morning close to Grim's Dyke Hotel in Harrow Weald.
Police were called at 9.09am to reports of smoke coming from the vehicle, a BMW 3 series, where it had come to a rest in Old Redding and found the occupant complaining of chest pains.
The paramedics took the patient to Northwick Park Hospital in Watford Road, Harrow.
Firefighters were called out at 9.13am but by the time they arrived the occupant had already left by ambulance.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 9.04am today to reports of a road traffic collision on Old Redding, Harrow Weald. We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.
"Our staff treated a man of around 40 years of age who was reported to be feeling unwell. Staff took the patient to Northwick Park Hospital."
