THE reverend of a popular church is so fed up with youngsters illegally skateboarding that he is threatening to prosecute them.
Father Robert Plourde is furious at the damage being caused to the newly revamped piazza and steps at St Luke’s Church in Love Lane.
After constant wear and tear from skateboarders the new stone is now chipping away and will continue to get worse unless they stop.
Father Plourde said: “They are causing damage to our newly built steps and piazza, we had put in only two years ago. The stone is chipping away and if they carry on it will cause severe damage.
“There are notices up stating that no games or skateboarding is allowed, but they do not take notice of these and when they are told to leave they can sometimes be very unpleasant.
“It is private property and you would think these young educated people would have a bit more courtesy and respect.
“It is a place of worship and people come in and out of the church all day most days, so it is also a huge danger to them, especially the elderly church goers.”
Father Plourde has reported the problem to the police and is willing to further action if the problem does not stop.
He added: “I have had some legal advice and I am told that they are trespassing.
“It sounds extreme to take them to court and it would be a disappointment to go ahead with that, but they must stop.”
Police at Pinner South Station said that they will carry out extra patrols near the church and anyone seen acting in an anti-social way or causing criminal damage will be arrested.
