A 12-YEAR-OLD schoolboy from Edgware has been offered a place in Mensa.
Jatin Chunilal, who attends Harrow High School in Gayton Road, Harrow, received an invitation to join the society for bright people after it was confirmed he had an IQ of 162, compared to the average of 100.
His mother Dipti said: “I’m really proud. When we opened his mail and found the letter we were really surprised. We knew he was a genius but this is an excellent IQ score. It’s a real pleasure to have him as my son.
“Right from the beginning he was doing extremely well at school and is a pencil portrait artist. Out of school he practises Taekwondo at Fists Taekwondo School and is three belts away from being a black belt.
“He likes to do puzzles and read and at the moment – he’s so motivated that he’s already studying on his own for the BMAT (biomedical admissions test) for Oxbridge – even though it’s six years away. He wants to be a cardiovascular surgeon.”
Mrs Chunilal believes her son’s talent is hereditary because she has a masters degree in human resources and her husband, Kamel, is an architect with a masters in urban design.
Her brother is also a member of Mensa in the US and her father a mechanical engineer.
