A CEREMONIAL flag was raised by the Mayor of Harrow in honour of Armed Forces week.
The standard was hoisted outside Harrow Civic Centre in Station Road, Harrow, in the company of members from the Royal British Legion, Welsh Guards, Standard Bearers and cadets from various forces.
Harrow’s councillors and the Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Dal Babu, were also at the event on Monday last week.
The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Nizam Ismail, said: “I was delighted to be able to raise the flag to commemorate and give thanks to all of our Armed Forces – past, present and future.
“It was wonderful to see our forces come together in their uniforms for the ceremony and I hope it is a tradition that will continue for many years to come.”
Phil Beckinsale, of the Royal British Legion in Northolt Road, South Harrow, said: “We come to the raising of the flag every year and we are very grateful to Harrow Council for holding such an event, especially with the age of some of our veterans here. We will always be very happy to attend.”
