Tattooed man murder police make three arrests

A mystery man who died has been named as Jaypee Maderazo

THREE people were arrested over the Bank Holiday weekend in connection with the murder of a tattooed man.

Mystery had surrounded the identity of the man, who died on August 17, but after images of his tattoos and jewellery were released, police were able to name him as Jaypee Maderazo.

A 33-year-old was arrested in Hammersmith on suspicion of murder on Sunday (August 29) along with a 34-year-old woman who was also detained on suspicion of assisting an offender. They were taken to a north London police station where they remain in custody.

Later on that day a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and has also been kept in custody.

Officers were called just after 5am to Cecil Road, in Harlesden, on Friday, August 13 where they discovered the 29-year-old with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died on Tuesday, August 17.

A post mortem took place at Northwick Park Hospital the following day where it was established that he died of a head injury. Mr Maderazo's death is now being treated as murder. He had no identification on him and had not been reported as a missing person. But thanks to an appeal which featured in the Observer the victim was identified as Mr Maderazo, originally from the Phillippines. His next of kin were informed.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are continuing the investigation begun by officers in Brent and are still looking for witnesses to come forward to piece together what happened to Mr Maderazo before he was killed.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Presland, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are looking into the circumstances that led to Jaypee's injury and resulted in his death. The response to previous appeals has helped us to identify Jaypee but we still need to know more about him. For instance, we still don't know where he lived or who he socialized with or where he frequented.

"Therefore we are very keen to speak to anyone who knew him personally or through friends and acquaintances. If you are one of these people please contact us. We would also continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Cecil Road in the early hours of Friday, August 13 to contact us."

Anyone with any information should call the incident room on 0208 358 0300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
