A PRIVATE hospital's donation to a medical research charity wowed its celebrity ambassador when she visited to accept the £35,000 cheque.
Staff at the country's 60 BMI hospitals raised money for Wellbeing of Women, whose representative, BBC television presenter Fiona Bruce, came to The Clementine Churchill Hospital, in Sudbury Hill, Harrow to accept the money.
Fundraising days at the various hospitals contributed £15,000 of the donation, and involved staff wearing purple, the colour of Wellbeing for Women, and seling purple cupcakes. The remainder of the contribution was met by BMI.
The hospital's fundraising day coincided with Ms Bruce's presentation visit on December 4.
The money will be used to fund research into incontinence, as well as other gynaecological diseases and conditions, a cause selected by BMI because its hospitals treat so many women with these conditions.
Ms Bruce said: "I am so grateful to all of the staff working at BMI Hospitals across the country for their efforts to raise funds."
