AS A resident of Pinner, the upgrades and new trains on Metropolitan line implemented by Boris make the journey into central London much more comfortable and more reliable.
Boris’s commitment to upgrade the Piccadilly Line will further improve access to central London. In fact, a major upgrade of the whole Tube network, trains, signalling systems and tracks is taking place, which has already significantly cut delays.
Unlike Livingstone who just talked about upgrading the network, with Boris as Mayor the work is being carried out. The other major transport project that Boris has secured funding for is Cross Rail which may not directly serve this area but will relieve the pressure from this part of the network.
Boris has achieved all this with no increase in the GLA council tax for the whole of his four year term. In fact he has recently announced a small decrease in the GLA council tax.
The transport upgrades implemented by Boris will continue and result in a much more reliable and frequent Tube and rail service. On the other hand all that Livingstone can offer to Londoners is the false promise that he will reduce fares, financed by a mythical TfL surplus.
It has been pointed out many times that TfL do not have a surplus, this is has recently been confirmed by none other than a TfL board member. The only way Livingstone could reduce fares is by a massive cut back in the current upgrade projects, the result of which will be a continuing decline in the networks reliability and capacity.
I suggest that all these upgrades and improvements to the London transport network clearly show that Boris delivers on his election promises and the only way to ensure that the work continues is to vote Boris on May 3.
