Oct 7 2010 Harrow Observer
I AM attempting to locate family members on behalf of my mother, Annette Townsend.
She was evacuated from Stanmore with her sister, Maureen, and brother,
Francis, in the early 1940s to Hebburn, near Newcastle Upon Tyne, with their mother, Louisa.
Her father, Francis Robert Townsend, stayed in Harrow and by the end of the war had divorced from Louisa.
My mother and her siblings lost touch with their father but became aware that, by the late 1960s, he had remarried and fathered three children. I do not have any names of these half siblings, or his new wife.
Francis Robert Townsend was last known at Shelly Road in Harrow, since demolished for the Civic Centre.
He was born around 1923 and had two sisters, Betty Smith, nee Townsend, last known at Sipson Road, Hillingdon, and Gillian, nee Townsend, who is around my mother's age of 70.
My mother would dearly love to know if her father is alive and if her half-siblings are aware of her and her sister, and would be extremely keen to make contact with them.
I apologise for the limited information I have, but would be grateful for any help your readers can provide.
