Eid event an inspiration

I WISH to extend my sincere thanks on behalf of the Harrow Muslim Council for a very successful conclusion of the Eid-ul-Adha event held at Harrow High School on December 5.

It was attended by more than 500 guests and was well beyond expectation. In spite of some teething problems about the timing, which one would expect in an event of this magnitude and diversity, the entire programme was well organised and exceptionally managed.

This was mainly because of the untiring efforts of all the organisations who participated in this event.

I would like to extend my personal thanks to Councillor Jean Lammiman for chairing the meetings and adapting herself to understand and value other cultures, and Steve Porter, who in his professional capacity extended his expertise, advice and personal supervision to steer the way to a successful evening.

Zarina Khalid displayed her potential as a budding compere.

Overall, the evening was a well-deserved compliment to all who participated, including the volunteers, parents, children and every individual who contributed towards making this event a great success.

The best thing about Harrow is its multicultural nature, religious diversity and the way communities work and live together, and long may it continue. It is something Harrow Muslim Council, as the key organisation in Harrow representing Muslims, is extremely proud of.

I hope this event will inspire our young people to be more active and involved in the society we live in and to understand and value other cultures and religions.

May the Almighty Allah's blessing be with you all.
