STAFF at a florists in the borough worked hard for two days to prepare their biggest order to date – for the Queen.
Deborah O’Connor, who runs Hearts And Flowers in Station Parade, Whitchurch Lane, was selected through an events agency to supply the floral decorations for the royal visit to Krishna-Avanti Primary School in nearby Camrose Avenue.
She said: “We’re working with Harrow Council to design the flowers. I thought red, white and blue might be appropriate, but they wanted all spring flowers so I want to the market to look for daffodils and tulips and the like, and spring colours such as violets and reds.”
Deborah, who has run the business for eight and a half years, has been working with three employees to produce 15 table pedestals, 50 table decorations and hand-tied posies.
“Even for a wedding you wouldn’t have 15 pedestals and so many table decorations, so it’s full hands for two days,” said Deborah. “I feel privileged to do the flowers for the Queen.”
