IT WAS astonishing to hear this week that someone had stolen a greenhouse from a primary school - disrupting the education of pupils.
Schools work on stringent budgets and cannot always afford to throw money at extra-curricular facilities.
So when a friend of a member of staff was generous enough to donate her own greenhouse it was an opportunity for the children to enjoy something outside the classroom.
It is hard to believe that someone is so selfish as to take this opportunity away from pupils and, as Marlborough First and Middle School's headteacher said, stealing from children is unforgivable.
The economic situation facing everyone at this time means that finding someone else to donate a greenhouse is going to be very difficult.
But if anyone out there is able to help, it would go a long way to cheering up these disappointed children - who have lost out through no fault of their own.
