Need to know on bonuses

YET again Copland Community College has made the headlines.

This week three teachers were suspended over an incident involving the use of an unauthorised signature on a letter.

Sir Alan Davies said it had nothing to do with one of the teachers exposing his £130,000 bonus.

Of course, people will be suspicious of this move, but members of staff need to ensure that pupils' education will not suffer as a result of strike action.

We also hope that no one at the school did doctor a letter which will show dis-honesty on their behalf. It is hard to think how a nonbiased investigation will be carried out considering the person being investigated happens to be the same person who blew the whistle on the head's payout.

It is commendable to see teachers standing by each other showing solidarity in what they believe in. Parents will want more questions answered and the school should inform them of who else is being paid bonuses at the school, how long it has been going on and where exactly this money is coming from.
