HARROW will be given an Olympic-themed makeover thanks to money from the Mayor of London for flags and decorations.
Boris Johnson’s office handed each borough council £50,000 to spruce up streets and public spaces with Olympic regalia in time for the start of the Games next month.
The Olympic torch will pass through Harrow on July 25 and all decorations will be in place by then.
Flags are flying outside the Civic Centre in Station Road and sport-themed decorations will brighten Harrow Leisure Centre and lamp post banners and streams of bunting will deck the town centres, supplied by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
Harrow Council portfolio holder for community and cultural services, councillor David Perry, said: “I am delighted to see Harrow get transformed for the Olympics and Paralympics.
“London is set to have an incredible summer and I hope the new decorations will excite and inspire our residents to get involved with this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
