Religion forbids Madge's Friday gigs

Queen of pop Madonna is refusing to perform on Friday nights on her forthcoming world tour - because her religion disallows it.

According to The Sun, Madonna, 45, will instead observe the Shabbat – the Jewish Sabbath – and share a meal with those close to her.

The singer, is well known for her commitment to Kabbalah, a branch of Judaism.

She drinks special Kabbalah water, has asked friends to call her Esther and wears a red bracelet – a symbol of her belief.

But this is the first time her faith has got in the way of her career.

A friend said: “This shows just how much Madonna is influenced by Kabbalah.

“She is completely focused on following her beliefs, no matter what lengths she has to go to.”

Other stars who have been inspired by the Material Girl’s faith includes her other half Guy Ritchie, fashion designer Stella McCartney and pop princess Britney Spears.

Madonna also wrote a children’s book, The English Roses, which was based on Kabbalah stories.

But to all her fans that may be worrying that her stage show will be heavily influenced by her religion they can think again.

Her friend said: “By any standards her tour will be massive and the good news is that it will be just as big and bold as ever before – if not more so.

“There will be plenty of raunchy dancing and sexy themes.”
