A HARD rock band from Harrow will be the opening act for their hero Bon Jovi at his stadium gig this Sunday (June 13).
New Device bandmates Daniel Leigh, Roz Ison, Andy Saxton, Shane Lee and Gaz Bowlan entered a Open For Bon Jovi competition, sponsored by the music promoters AEG Live, by sending in a demo of their music.
They were one of five British acts selected by the judges to warm the crowd with 30 minutes of material on one of five nights of the rockstar's The Circle Tour residency that began on Monday (June 7) at The O2 Arena in Greenwich, south-east London.
Vocalist Daniel, 24, said: "We were playing in Sheffield on tour and we found out about 15 minutes before we had to go on stage.
"It was hard to take in, I just stood there for about five minutes, I had to get my head in to gear and compose myself."
The American rock moguls Bon Jovi are one of New Device's biggest inspirations and they are looking forward to performing alongside them on stage.
Mr Leigh said: "We haven't met him before, he's one of the guys on the list (of people) to meet.
"The excitement is still there but now we are having to get organised, decide what songs we are going to perform and what equipment we are going to use. We are have to get very focused.
"This is a great opportunity, it will bring massive exposure for the band.
"This will open up alot of doors for high profile shows and we hope for more opportunities like this."
The upcoming group, who have been together since October 2007, are signed to Powerage Records and their latest album is called 'Taking Over'.
